On November 20, one of the most controversial major sport events in history will be kicked off at Al-Bayt Stadium in Al-Chaur: The World Cup 2022, which has been under immense criticism since it was awarded to Qatar in 2010. The list of accusations is neverending: not only corruption, oppression of women and queer people, deplorable working conditions on construction sites but also the lack of press freedom, and fully air-conditioned stadiums in the desert are evervalid problems in Qatar. Awarding the World Cup to Qatar was a mistake, and FIFA must make fundamental changes to prevent another problematic world cup.
But what does this mean for soccer fans? How can, should and will they behave during the World Cup? Will fans watch the World Cup anyway or will they turn off the TV?
Should they ignore everything or try to form a own critical opinion in the flood of information?
Club 2 × 11 discusses options for action and asks what responsibility and what options individuals, fans and fan groups have. How can fans combine their criticism and their desire to watch the soccer games?
