With the upcoming Men’s World Cup in Qatar, the issue of labor and human rights in the context of major sport events has once again taken center stage. The tragic deaths of hundreds of workers on World Cup construction sites led to an outcry in the media and society.
We take this as an opportunity to shed light on the global impact of major sport events and take a look behind the scenes of the international sports industry, which is pushing sport itself into the background.
Under the motto “For a global fair play! – Our game for human rights!” we show alternatives on how to use the public and broad potentials of sports to actively contribute to the realization of human rights and global justice.
