The quarterly networking meetings, which were attended by all close cooperation partners, were used to continuously evaluate and reflect on the project activities. The final debriefing meeting, which took place on 26.01.2023, not only addressed the high and lowlights of the participants, but also the lessons learned.
The feedback on the VIDC project lead, internal communication and joint activities was extremely positive: The successful press conference, the Human Rights Cup and, above all, the Speakers Tour were described as outstanding. Other highlights were the informal meetings between the partners and the World Cup ticker, which provided new information on events during the ongoing World Cup in Qatar on an almost daily basis.
The first of three years of the “Our game for human rights” project was also a success in the media: Fairplay speakers appeared as experts on various radio and television programs. Above all, our project officer Hanna Stepanik was a welcome guest on Zeit in Bild, DorfTV and FM4, among others.
Overall, we can look back on the “Our Game for Human Rights” project and its implementation in an extremely positive light – the only drop of bitterness is that the FIFA World Cup in Qatar was probably a successful event for the host country after all – and the protests and calls for a boycott were limited to Europe.
